April 4, 1928 - September 21, 2010
Paul E. Bailey, 82, of Claymont, DE passed away peacefully on Tuesday, September 21, 2010 at Accord Health Service/Brandywine in Wilmington, DE with his loving family by his side.
Born on April 4, 1928 in Landenberg, PA, he was youngest of 14 children of the late Marguerite (Martin) and George Bacchus Bailey.
He was a graduate of Kennett Square High School and proudly served his country during the Korean War in the U.S. Army.
Paul owned and operated Arctic Refrigeration Company in Claymont for more than 48 years. He enjoyed hunting, family events and especially loved chicken barbeques.
He was an active member at the United Methodist Church of Atonement, Ducks Unlimited and the National Turkey Federation.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a daughter, Carol Ann Bailey and several brothers and sisters.
He leaves many wonderful memories to his loving wife of 59 years, Modesta (Conner) Bailey; a son, Jay E. Bailey and his wife, Leigh; a daughter, Susan Schauber and her husband, Allan;
three granddaughters, Jennifer Leigh Bailey, Rachel Modesta Bailey and Elizabeth Ann Bailey;
a grandson, Andrew Alan Franklin and his girlfriend, Jacqueline Ingledue;
a great-granddaughter, Taylor Alcena Franklin; three sisters, Marguerite Crossan, Phyllis Martin, and Madeline Woodworth;
a brother, Roger Bailey and numerous nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be held 10 am on Saturday, September 25, 2010 at the United Methodist Church of Atonement, 3519 Philadelphia Pike, Claymont, DE, where friends may visit from 9-10 am.
Interment with full military honors will be in Union Hill Cemetery, Kennett Square, PA.
